My Photography Journey

I have always had a love for photography, even from a young age. I have had many "point-and-shoots" in my life, but it wasn't until I turned 19 that I invested in my first DSLR. I quickly found myself falling in love with photography in a whole new way, and decided to pursue a side business. Being young, I found myself playing the comparison game, doubting myself and my work, and eventually giving up photography.

Fast forward a few years, after having my first son, I picked up my camera once again and decided to try photography (again) - I was a stay-at-home-mom looking for some extra income, so what did I have to lose? I found myself struggling to find time to edit, it was taking me way too long, and I decided I still didn't have the skills necessary to run a successful photography business.

That brings us to April of 2021; a distant cousin had reached out to me about doing some maternity photos for him and his expecting girlfriend (who would soon become his fiancé!) so I said sure. Once I got behind that camera, that spark ignited inside of me and I knew my passion for photography was more alive than ever! I told my husband, I want to do this full-time and quit my job. By mid-June, I was quitting my job and fulfilling my dreams of pursuing my photography business full-time! Was I terrified? Yep. The uncertainty of income? Scared me like hell. But did I let those fears get me down? No! I have come so far already, and I'm just getting started. I can't wait to tackle what the future has in store for Taylor Hartwig Photography.
